Terms of Service

Effective 2 October 2026.

Ownhand is an API and an MCP server that rewrites drafts in your own writing voice. Thalient Labs runs it. In these terms, "we" means Thalient Labs. By using Ownhand you agree to these terms. If you use it for a company, you agree for that company too.

Your account

You need an account to use the service. You are responsible for your API keys and for all activity under your account. Keep keys secret. Revoke any key you think is exposed.

Your content

You own the text you send us and the text we return to you. You let us store and process it to run the service for you, as the Privacy Policy describes. Only upload writing samples you have the right to use.

Acceptable use

Use Ownhand to write as yourself. Do not use it to do any of the following:

• Pretend to be another person, or build a Hand from someone else's writing without their permission.
• Send spam or bulk messages people did not ask for.
• Hand in generated work at a school or in an exam where the rules forbid it.
• Break the law, harass people, or commit fraud.
• Attack or overload the service, or share keys to get around account limits.

You are responsible for every message you send.

Credit and billing

Ownhand is prepaid. You add credit, and each model call is charged from your balance at the per-token prices on the pricing page. Prices are in US dollars. Payments go through Stripe. At checkout, Link (a Stripe company) is the seller of record for your reload and adds sales tax or VAT where it applies.

• New accounts get a free starting credit once. It has no cash value and cannot be transferred or refunded.
• Credit does not expire while your account is open.
• When your balance reaches zero, new calls are refused until you add credit. A call that is already running finishes, so your balance can dip slightly below zero. Your next reload covers that amount.
• If auto-reload is offered and you turn it on, you authorize us to charge your saved card the amount you chose each time your balance falls below your threshold. You can turn it off any time in the dashboard.
• If we change a price, we will email you at least 30 days before it applies to you.

Refunds

Reloads are non-refundable, except where the law requires a refund. If a charge looks wrong, email us and we will fix it.

No warranty

We provide Ownhand as is. Model output can be wrong. A draft can drop a fact or change one. Read each draft before you send it. We do not promise the service will always be available or free of errors.

Limit of liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $50 and the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Ending your use

You can stop using Ownhand at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other users at risk. If we close your account for any other reason, we will refund your unused paid credit.

Changes

We may update these terms. We will email you about material changes before they take effect. If you keep using the service after that date, the new terms apply.
